How ceramics are made

Visitors to the eight rooms of the history section are offered the chance to understand how the ceramic production techniques evolved: the shapes and decorations of the containers, moulding of the bricks, the kilns used for firing the articles, production and design of the tiles.

Each room is dedicated to a single historical period: it all starts with the Neolithic village of the Culture of Fiorano and the first local production of ceramics, important in terms of their quality and variety.

From the early kilns to the hand lathe, the brick moulds to the tools of the ceramic craftsmen, the hot stone-cutters to the automatic presses; archaeological finds and reproductions created with experimental archaeology tell the story of the innovations that led to creation of the industrial district.
